Thursday

We finished painting 5 houses and cleaning one lot yesterday, so today we had a treat! We had a roller skating rink open just for us and we had a blast! We now are prepping for our carnival/rally tonight!

Monday and Tuesday

This week, we were given the task to paint 5 houses and clean up a very large yard for a family.

From just two days of our work projects, our teams have already completed so much of the painting. Two houses were completed today and the other three are not far behind.
Our clean up crew has been mowing grass at least 3 feet tall and have already filled up at least 25 to 30 bags of trash.

VBS on Monday went great! The students led songs, Bible stories, skits, crafts, games, snacks, and more. The kids that came smiled and laughed the whole time they were there. The group is so excited for VBS this afternoon.

I couldn't be more proud of how hard our group is working and how they are giving everything they have to help the Rio Grande Valley! Please continue to pray for our team!

What it's about

This morning we woke up to rain. I decided to move us forward with our schedule in hopes that it would end and we could strive towards finishing our projects! After breakfast, we came out to a perfect picture...the rainbow. What a remarkable beginning to our day b/c it reminded us of God's promise. Obviously He promised something to Moses about never flooding the Earth again. I think it was more than about that. It was a promise that He would never leave us, never forsake us, and that He simply cared. Today, that promise was evident.

This morning's work projects went ok. The students were great, the rain simply made us end early and partially messed up some progress. But that's ok, we have hopes that the rain will hold off so we can finish all projects in the morning! In the mornings, we have different students each day just hanging out with the kids at Indian Hills. I swung by this morning and I walk in the church and one of our students was sharing the Gospel with a little girl. This wasn't planned. There was no curriculum. It was the Spirit!

This afternoon was game time. The students prepared for VBS and to present the Gospel through song and skits and small groups. After much prayer, they were ready. Long story short, we had at least 10 kids accept Christ that we know of from our locations. That makes it worth it doesn't it. Such an incredible sight to see our students leading others to Christ.

Let me take it to another level. Tonight, in our wrap up, we spent time talking back about today and hearing what God had impacted them with. So good to hear all the stories. We spent incredible time in worship time as a few of our ladies led us again, and let me tell you, the sight and the sound was awesome. One of our student's shared his testimony and struggle with past drug addictions, selling drugs, bad home life, and a trip to rehab. I told our students that this was being the church. None of us are perfect. All of us carry a story. Whether its from the bottom of the pit or from being born in the church, we all move towards perfection when we accept Christ and he leads us in a new direction. I told them the church is full of broken pieces that Christ puts together to make a beautiful picture.

During our final two songs tonight, I was really being pulled on by the Spirit. I have never done this on a Rio trip and I wasn't planning on it. But I began to speak out of Acts 2, as Peter gave his big sermon there at Penecost. Ultimately, I told our students I didn't know all of them deep, but I felt as if I had to give someone the opportunity to follow Christ. That they may live a church going life and claim to be a Christian, but they had never accepted Christ and moved forward in a relationship with Him. Tonight, one of our team members accepted Him for the very first time. Isn't that incredible. God is so good. Her and I were talking afterward and she told me when she woke up this morning, she just felt like something was going to be different about today.

God's Promise.
